President's Welcome
West Kentucky Community and Technical College provides a powerful example of what a successful postsecondary institution must be in the 21st century.
West Kentucky Community and Technical College not only offers traditional two-year transfer Associate in Arts and Associate in Science degrees, but also offers the Associate in Applied Science degree, diplomas, and certificates in several technical fields. With the development of the Paducah School of Art, the college added the Associate in Fine Arts degree to its curricular offerings in Fall 2010. As a result of offering a variety of programs and course delivery options, and due to the diligent efforts of the faculty and staff, WKCTC is recognized as a top 20 granter of academic credentials.
The recent completion of the Emerging Technology Center and accompanying Fred Paxton Engineering Research Center presents evidence of the College’s commitment to offer an extensive variety of business and industry training classes and supports the expansion of the University of Kentucky College of Engineering—Paducah Campus. Other recent initiatives include the establishment of the Community Scholarship Program, expansion of the Commonwealth Middle College, launch of the Skilled Craft Training Center, and initiation of the One Book/One Campus/One Community reading program.
West Kentucky Community and Technical College is committed to providing high quality educational experiences, meeting the educational needs of the college community, serving as a full partner in business and workforce development, and contributing to the overall economic and social well-being of the region. As we continue to move toward our vision of the college being recognized as a preeminent community college nationwide, our focus continues to be on access, retention, and student success.
West Kentucky Community and Technical College is the place to be for new students who are taking their first college class, members of the community who may be looking to add to their credentials, or for those interested in taking a personal enrichment class.
