UserFirst-Time, Readmission, and Transfer Students

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
STEP 2. 

APPLY FOR FINANCIAL AID BY COMPLETING THE FAFSA    [Federal School Code: 001979]

STEP 3.

REQUEST ACT SCORES ONLINE OR COMPLETE THE COMPASS TEST

  • ACT scores do not have an expiration date.  COMPASS Testing is valid for 3 years.
  • Required ACT Scores for COMPASS Exemption: English 18, Math 19, Reading 20.
STEP 4. REQUEST FINAL HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT OR GED AND ALL OFFICIAL COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT(S).

  • We cannot accept faxed transcripts.
  • High School Transcripts and/or GED Transcripts are not required for students over age 25. 
  • Send high school transcript via mail or electronically by requesting at www.parchment.com or your High School.
  • Hand delivered/mailed transcripts must be in a sealed official envelope with a print date of 6 months or less.
  • For International transcripts, please refer to the KCTCS Foreign Transcript Policy.

IF TAKEN, REQUEST ADVANCED PLACEMENT (AP) SCORES BE MAILED DIRECTLY TO WKCTC

UserVisiting or Transient Students

What is a visiting student?  

A visiting student is a student that has been enrolled in another post-secondary institution for the most recent semester and is requesting to take class(es) with WKCTC on a temporary basis, then transfer those credits back to their original college. For example, a University of Kentucky student for the spring semester may take summer class(es) with WKCTC then transfer those credits back to the University of Kentucky for Fall.

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
If you wish to receive financial aid as a visiting student, you will need to apply for financial aid through your home 
campus and request a concurrent enrollment form from them.  This form is then completed by WKCTC and 
returned to your home campus.  For more information please contact (855) 469-5282.

STEP 2.

REQUEST COLLEGE MAIL OFFICIAL TRANSCRIPT(S)  AND/OR LETTER OF GOOD STANDING DIRECTLY TO WKCTC.

  • All mailed transcripts must be mailed directly from institutions to WKCTC.
  • We can not accept faxed transcripts as official.
  • Hand delivered transcripts must be in a sealed official envelope with a print date of 6 months or less.
  • For International college transcripts, please refer to the KCTCS Foreign Transcript Policy.
  • ACT or COMPASS scores are usually required for course placement.
STEP 3.

UserNon-Degree Seeking Students

What is a Non-Degree Seeking Student?
A Non-Degree Student is a student that has no intention of completing any certificate, diploma, or associates degree program.

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

STEP 2.

REQUEST ACT SCORES ONLINE OR COMPLETE THE COMPASS TEST 

  • ACT scores do not have an expiration date.  COMPASS Testing is valid for 3 years.
  • Required ACT Scores for COMPASS Exemption: English 18, Math 19, Reading 20.
  • Prior college work may also be considered as fulfilling prerequisites in lieu of test scores as long as the student requests their college transcripts be mailed directly to WKCTC.  Please note, we cannot accept any faxed transcripts.  
STEP 3.  

SCHEDULE APPOINTMENT TO REGISTER WITH THE REGISTRATION & ADVISING CENTER

UserSenior Learning Students (65 Years or Older)

STEP 1.

  • Senior Learners (age 65+) will need to supply a valid copy of a current Kentucky driver's license/state-issued ID to the records office in order to waive tuition.  Please note that you will be responsible for book costs and other course related fees.

ComputerOnline and Distance Learning Students

STEP 1. COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION
STEP 2.  SEE THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT COORDINATOR IN ROOM 204 OF THE ANDERSON TECHNICAL BUILDING OR BY CALLING 855/469-5282.  YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING:
  • Application for I-20 Form 
  • Proof of English proficiency:
    • TOEFL - The minimum TOEFL score for admission must be at least 400 paper-based or 97 computer-based or 32 New internet-based. Test results must be sent to WKCTC directly from the testing service. The test scores must not be older than 18 months. The TOEFL institutional code for WKCTC is 8705. Additional information is available at.  OR
    • College English 101 and 102-Completion of College English 101 and 102 or its equivalent with a minimum grade of B in each course from an accredited American institution.
  • Proof of Financial Support:
    • Financial Certification Form /Affidavit of Sponsorship - Student/Sponsors must attach an original bank statement and an employment verification letter to this form. 
    • Affidavit of Sponsor Providing Room and Board - This form is only for students who will be living with someone who will provide the student with free room and board. That person must attach a copy of a lease or proof of homeownership and an employment verification letter to the form.
  • Transfer Documents:
Transfer Documents (Eligibility Certificate) and copies of current I-20, I-94 card, and visa for students transferring from a U.S. institution. An Official Transcript (student copy is not acceptable) of course work completed at a U.S. institution must be mailed directly to WKCTC.
