Graduation Information

Congratulations!  The West Kentucky Community and Technical College Graduation Committee would like to congratulate you on this exciting milestone!  We understand that Graduation may be overwhelming, therefore we have put together a list of frequently asked questions and information relating to Graduation and the Graduation Ceremonies (Commencement) for your reference below.

Favorite StarWhat are the requirements to graduate with honors?

AA, AS, AFA, or AAS Degrees only :  If you have 45 or more graded hours in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System with a Cumulative GPA of 3.40-3.59, you will graduate with Distinction.  If you have 45 or more graded hours in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System with a Cumulative GPA of 3.60-4.00, you will graduate with High Distinction.  This academic achievement will be noted on your official transcript and diploma.  If you have met the above criteria by the semester preceding graduation, the notation will appear in the Commencement Program.

Diplomas only : If you have 30 or more graded hours in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System with a Cumulative GPA of 3.40-3.59, you will graduate with Distinction. If you have 30 or more graded hours in the Kentucky Community and Technical College System with a Cumulative GPA of 3.60-4.00, you will graduate with High Distinction. Green+Veteran Graduates - Where do I get a Veteran Cord?

Graduating veterans are eligible to wear a red, white, and blue honor cord with their cap and gown in honor of their military service. If you have served honorably in the U.S. military and are graduating and attending a West Kentucky Community and Technical College Commencement, you will receive a Veteran's cord to represent your service to our country.  To obtain your honor cord, please contact WKCTC Veterans Coordinator Kristin Amaya at 534-3861 or kristen.amaya@kctcs.edu.  Veteran cords can be picked up in the Office of Veterans Services located in Anderson Technical Building, room 101.

For your convenience we have created a Commencement page that is updated regularly with information about the upcoming graduation events.  

ClockWhen/How will I get my credentials?

In order to receive any credential (certificate, diploma, or degree), you must apply for graduation.
You will be notified, via email and mail, if you have not met the requirements for graduation.
At the end of the semester, when all grades have been turned in, each credential will be entered into the system within 2-3 weeks.
You will receive your credentials in the mail about 10-12 weeks after the end of the semester.
If you need to officially update your address, please do so in your Student Self-Service.
