WKCTC Invitational 2014

The West Kentucky Stars, the club basketball team at West Kentucky Community and Technical College, won the championship game at this year’s invitational tournament February 15-16.

More than 200 people attended the two-day tournament held in WKCTC’s Haws Gymnasium and which featured teams from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, Club Louisville and the Earle C. Clements Job Corps.

Each of the four teams played on Saturday to determine who would play in the semi-final and final games on Sunday.  During Sunday’s semi-final game, Club Louisville beat Earle Clements 83 to 65 and the West Kentucky Stars edged out the ECTC Barons with a score of 89 to 86 to win the tournament.

Following the final game, seven players were named to the All-Tournament Team, based on points scored, teamwork, and overall performance during the tournament. The members from WKCTC were Cody Schultz, Kris Jackson, and Jacob Scott; from Elizabethtown Community and Technical College, Jansen Hood and Chris McDonald; from Club Louisville, Aaron Baker; and from Earle Clements, Richard Bryson.

Cheerleaders and playersFollowing the February 16 game, their last game, sophomore WKCTC players Kris Jackson, Jacob Scott and Cody Schultz and sophomore WKCTC cheerleaders Kaylie Palmer, Idalia Moore and Moriah Dycus were recognized. All are expect to graduate in May.
