Workforce Solutions Training Center sponsors OSHA-related safety courses for all contractors that plan on performing work in the following facilities: Alcan, Celanese, Cymetech, Lubrizol, and Honeywell International. The courses include a 4-hour Basic OSHA Safety Awareness Course as well as site-specific orientations for each of the participating plants.
This type of training is also available to any company interested, at WKCTC or at your job site.
Before performing work in any of the participating facilities, a contract employee will have to successfully complete the Basic OSHA Safety Awareness Course as well as the site-specific course for the facility in which they will be working. Upon satisfactory completion, the contract employee will be issued an approved photo ID badge (valid for one year) that must be presented any time he or she enters a participating facility’s gate.
Basic Safety Training/Orientation is offered every Monday (except days WKCTC campus is closed) in the Emerging Technology Center, directions available online.
To ensure a seat, pre-register at least one business day before your class. Pre-registration may be done by contacting Workforce Solutions at: 270-534-3335. Walk-ins will only be accommodated as space and time permits. On the day of class, registration is in Room #133 on the first floor. Class begins at 8:00 am, no one will be admitted to the classroom once the doors close.
You may be released from taking the Basic OSHA Safety Awareness Course if you have proof of a valid (within one calendar year), “Third Party Training” such as the OSHA 10-hour card, or the Basic OSHA Safety Awareness Course from another approved Safety Council organization (ex: Three Rivers Safety Council in Joliet, Houston Area Contractors’ Safety Council, Associated General Contractors, Trade Union Sponsored Course, etc.)
Those having proof of valid third party training, along with a valid ID, will be required (at no cost) to take the Basic OSHA Safety Awareness Test to prove your mastery and retention of the material. Upon successful completion of the test, you will be permitted to take the site-specific courses desired at a cost of $30 per site-specific course. If you fail the test, you will be required to come back at a later date and complete the Basic OSHA Safety Awareness Course in its entirety before taking any of the required specific orientation courses.
MTW Radiation Training is offered Monday through Friday, except for holidays, at which time classes will rescheduled for the next available open date. Appointments must be made in order to ensure training.
