Residency Information and Appeal Process

We recognize the residency process can seem overwhelming. This checklist is meant to help you during the residency process. If you have questions regarding your residency papers, please contact the Residency Officer, Trent Johnson, in the Admissions Office at Trent.Johnson@kctcs.edu.

STEP 1: MAKE PAYMENT ARRANGEMENTS WITH THE BUSINESS OFFICE
  • Know the tuition and refund deadlines. Filing a residency appeal does not count as payment.
  • If you choose to stay in courses past the 100% refund deadline and your appeal is denied, this is not justification for 100% refund when dropping/withdrawing from classes.
  • If you apply for residency within five (5) business days of the tuition deadline, your appeal may not be reviewed prior to tuition being due and you are responsible for your full balance. Pay your tuition by the tuition deadline.

STEP 2: COMPLETE THERESIDENCY APPEAL APPLICATION(FRONT AND BACK)

STEP 3: GATHER THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTATION (BASED UPON YOUR CATEGORY)

STEP 4: RETURN APPLICATION AND DOCUMENTATION TO THE ADMISSIONS OFFICE IN ATB ROOM 113
  • You must apply and have all documentation submitted within the first 30 days of the start of the semester. Any request received after this date may be considered for future semesters/enrollment only.

STEP 5: PLEASE ALLOW UP TO 5 BUSINESS DAYS FOR THE RESIDENCY OFFICER TO REVIEW RESIDENCY APPEAL
  • Appeals are not reviewed until all documentation is provided. You will be notified of the official decision via phone number provided on the appeal.
  • If you have questions regarding your residency appeal, contact Trent Johnson at Trent.Johnson@kctcs.edu
