Eligibility

  • Junior or senior in high school
  • Meet placement criteria per KCTCS Assessment and Placement Policy
    • ACT – English - 18; Reading - 20; Math - 22 for College Algebra
    • KYOTE – CA5-13 MAT 105, 110, 116; CA 7-13 & MP 22+ MAT 150 w/100, MAT 146; CA 14+ MAT 150
    • TABE – Reading 9.0-11.3 RDG 030; 11.4-12.1 Paired RDG course; 12.2-12.9 No RDG course
    • TABE – Writing 8.1-9.5 ENC 090; 9.6–12.7 ENC 091; 12.8-12.9 ENG 101
    • COMPASS – English - 74; Reading - 85; Math - 50 for College Algebra (COMPASS no longer given after November 2016, scores remain active three years from actual test date)
  • Complete College Academy application and provide high school transcripts
  • Enroll in courses with College Academy Director
  • Attend enrollment orientation session with College Academy Director at your local high school
  • Utilize advisement session to understand courses and program to help navigate toward success
  • Grade earned will be recorded on college transcript
    • A, B, C, D, E, or W
    • College grade point average (GPA) and/or withdrawal grade affects financial aid, Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES), scholarships, and selective admission programs
    • Students must maintain 2.0 GPA for financial aid eligibility
  • Purchase textbook(s), if required for course -www.kctcs.bncollege.com
  • Need to be motivated, organized, and dedicated
  • Tuition for coursework:
    • KCTCS colleges will waive half of the tuition amount for dual credit courses.
  • Students must earn a high school diploma before a degree, diploma, or certificate can be awarded.
