Welcome to WKCTC's Earth Week Celebration and Concert. We have a full week of FREE activities leading up to an awesome celebration and concert on April 28!

April 22 • 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. • Meet in Waller Hall
Shawnee National Forest Bell Smith Springs Hike
Hike, must be prepared for steep inclines and rock climbing.

April 23 – 27 • 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. • Matheson Library
Earth Day Table and Display Better World Books collection
Information on Earth Day; Better World Books donations to reuse books; collect printer cartridges.

April 25 • 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. • East Side of Haws Gym
Animal Lovers Come One, Come All!
Live domesticated animals. Good Weather required.

April 27 • 9:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. • Waller Hall Room 214
Interdisciplinary Climate Literacy Workshop
Participants across disciplines will have free access to the demonstrations, lessons, and materials used during the workshop to discuss climate trends.

Four Rivers Watershed Watch Training
Sponsored by the KY Division of Water, become a volunteer to monitor water quality in our region.

April 28 • 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. • Haws Gym and outside (weather permitting)
Earth Day Celebration for Kids
WKCTC is having a number of family activities on campus for our Earth Week Celebration: children crafts, an obstacle course contest, marine chemistry for kids, watershed town models.

Earth Day Celebration & Concert
Earth Week Celebration and Concert: local bands, cooking demo, hybrid cars, bee keeping, animal rehab, bat conservation, Children’s shoe drive (donate new sneakers), local environmental groups and more

11:00 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Led by the following WKCTC programs / departments:
Early Childhood Education, Science, and Surgical Technology

  • Children Crafts
  • Chemistry for Kids
  • Play in the river models
  • “I’m Batty for You” learn about KY bats!
  • Life-size “Operation Game”
  • Identifying Animals and their parts
  • 1:00-3:00 pm Kids Obstacle Course Contests

11:00 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Led by the following WKCTC programs / departments:
Agriculture, Air Conditioning Technology, Automotive Technology, Biology, Chemistry, Humanities, Social Science, Admissions, and Diversity & Inclusion

  • Bee-keeping for honey and making maple syrup in West KY
  • Hispanic Garden Plants
  • Animal Conservation including building Bat houses
  • Inside Hybrid Vehicles
  • Energy Efficiency in the Home
  • New Sneaker Donations for Our Children
  • 11:30 am – 12:30 p.m. • COOKING DEMO led by the Culinary Arts Program: Cooking Like A Pro: How to Reduce Waste and Increase Savings
