PADUCAH, KY (03/15/2017) New York Times best-selling author Conor Grennan will visit
West Kentucky Community and Technical College March 28-29 as the finale to the college’s
2016-17 One Book Read project.
Grennan’s public presentation to discuss his best-seller, Little Princes, will be held March 28 at 7 p.m. in the Clemens Fine Arts Center. The event is free and open to the public. He will speak to a student audience on March 29. Grennan will sign copies of his book following each presentation.
The One Book Read committee is asking for the community’s help to support Paducah’s Victory Through Grace Ministries as a tie-in with Grennan’s book, his number one best-selling international memoir that tells the story of his unwavering work to reconnect trafficked children with their families in Nepal.
“We need help in collecting items for the Victory House, which is a free of charge counseling restoration home for young women ages 18-35 who are survivors of trafficking and/or sexual exploitation and abuse – many from our own community,” said Amy Sullivan, WKCTC One Book Read co-chair.
Sullivan said the Victory House is always in need of essential items for residents, particularly high-efficiency (HE marked on the bottle) name brand laundry detergent – Tide, Gain, Arm & Hammer, Purex, All or Xtra; toilet paper; fabric softener sheets and dishwasher soap.
Items can be brought to the Clemens Center on the evening of March 28 and will be collected prior to Grennan’s 7 p.m. presentation.
An opening reception for the Paducah School of Art and Design’s exhibition of the One Book Read communitywide photo contest will take place on March 16 at 5 p.m. in the Clemens Fine Arts Center Gallery. Light refreshments will be served.
The exhibition will remain open in the gallery through March 31, with the contest winners being announced during a reception for Grennan in the college’s student center on March 28 at 6 p.m. The public is invited.
