Allen North, VP of Banking Regulations for the St. Louis Federal Reserve Bank,
was the keynote speaker at a breakfast to honor business students at West Kentucky
Community and Technical College on April 21. North also spoke to community and business
leaders, WKCTC faculty, staff, and students, during a seminar entitled Making Sense
of the Financial Crisis. He spoke about how banks fail, what happens to keep them
afloat, and how the Federal Reserve operates in the financial system. North is a Paducah
Community College and St. Mary alumni who grew up in Paducah and has worked his way
up the ranks of the Federal Reserve System.
