Child Abuse Prevention
The Purchase Area Sexual Assault amp; Child Advocacy Center will be offering Darkness
To Lights Stewards of Children programming free of charge in the month of April in
observance of Child Abuse Prevention Month. In the United States, 1:4 girls and 1:6
boys will be sexually victimized before their 18th birthday. The Stewards of Children
program is a prevention training program that teaches adults how to prevent, recognize,
and react responsibly to child sexual abuse. The program is designed for organizations
that serve youth and for individuals concerned about the safety of children. It is
the only nationally distributed, evidence based program proven to increase knowledge,
improve attitudes, and change child protective behaviors.
