Fall Fling - Spirit Week
Command Spanish will meet each Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 am - 9:00 pm in the
Emerging Technology Center beginning March 22. Its important for emergency personnel
to be able to communicate with a person in need, and a language barrier can make that
virtually impossible. Workforce Solutions at West Kentucky Community and Technical
College (WKCTC) wants to make the process easier by offering this class .
The four-week class (ending April 14) is designed for non-Spanish speaking people who deal with emergency situations including:
- doctors and nurses
- fire department personnel
- police officers
- paramedics and emergency medical technicians
Students will learn Spanish language commands and phrases that will enable them to
assist Spanish-speaking persons in crisis scenarios. Emphasis is placed on concise
Spanish to determine the patients chief complaint, extent of injury or nature of illness,
as well as explain procedures and treatment. No prior knowledge of Spanish is necessary.
The class fee is $130 (book not included). Students can order books for $39.95. WKCTC
Workforce Solutions will place order.
Space is limited. Register by calling WKCTC Workforce Solutions at 270-534-3335.
