Jessi Donaldson is March Student of the MonthMcCracken County resident Jessi Donaldson was selected West Kentucky Community and Technical Colleges Student Affairs Student of the Month for March. I couldn't believe I won, said Donaldson. I was very surprised.
The Student of the Month program is designed to recognize the accomplishments of students on campus. Individuals selected must be currently enrolled at WKCTC and have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 and are nominated on the basis of exceptional performance, personal attributes, academic excellence, and active participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Donaldson is a sophomore working to obtain her Associate in Applied Science degree in culinary arts. She graduated from Western Kentucky University with a degree in psychology in 2008, but wanted a different career path. I really wanted something different in my life, so I decided to come back to school, Donaldson said. Working in the culinary arts is the place for me.
Chef Patrick Fletcher, WKCTC culinary arts director and Chef Vicki Koehler both agreed that Donaldson is a fine example of a WKCTC Student of the Month. Jessi is the top of her class in grades, character, and work ethic, said Fletcher. Donaldson is passionate about helping others and contributing to the community said Koehler. She is a positive influence on our students and is a great ambassador for the culinary program, she added.
Student of the Month winners receive $100, a certificate of excellence, recognition in the colleges newsletter, Facebook page, campus announcements, and Web site.
