Last Pre-Admission Conference for Automotive Tech ProgramThe last pre-admission conference for the new automotive technology program at West Kentucky Community and Technical College begins at 5:00 pm Monday, March 28, at the Skilled Craft Training Center near Mayfield.
Beginning this fall, WKCTC will offer courses leading to an associate in applied science in automotive technology as well as diploma and certificate options. A selective admissions procedure is in place for acceptance into the program. Mandatory attendance at a pre-admission conference is the first step in the admissions process. Mondays conference is the last opportunity for individuals interested in taking Fall 2011 automotive technology classes to seek acceptance in the program.
The automotive service industry is one of constant change as cars become more complex. Bob Gunn, automotive technology program coordinator, said highly trained technicians are needed to diagnose and repair todays automobiles.WKCTCs automotive technology program emphasizes theory operation and hands-on training in electrical/electronics, brakes, suspension, engine repair, fuel, emissions, engine performance, transmissions and climate control systems.
