Learning Bass Fishing From a Pro

Fishing enthusiasts will have an opportunity to learn some of the secrets of bass fishing when seasoned tournament angler Mark Menendez teaches a Workforce Solutions class at West Kentucky Community and Technical College in January.

The class will meet on Tuesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm in the Emerging Technology Center at WKCTC beginning January 18. The cost is $65 per person. Each participant will receive free lures with a retail value of $15. Space is limited.

A Paducah native, Menendez has spent 20 years earning a reputation as a warrior on tour. He has amassed career earnings of more than one million dollars. He has won three Bassmaster events and has qualified for the Bassmaster Classic on five occasions. During his career, he has also recorded two Bassmaster records. Menendez, 46, has a degree from Murray State University in fisheries biology and is devoted to educating interested anglers in the field of bass fishing.

During the 5-week course, Menendez will discuss seasonal patterns, water temperature and structure fishing, with the goal of helping everyone from the seasoned tournament angler to the eager beginner catch more bass.

WKCTC will be closed from December 20 through January 3 for the holiday break. Individuals interested in signing up for the bass fishing class should call 534-3335 beginning January 3.
