National Ceramics InvitationalThe Paducah School of Art is pleased to announce its inaugural presentation of the Paducah School of Art National Ceramics Invitational in the Clemens Fine Art Center Gallery at West Kentucky Community amp; Technical College The exhibition opens with an artists reception from 5:00 p.m - 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, and runs through Sunday, February 12.
The exhibition includes many of Americas most accomplished ceramic artists and reflects a broad range of approaches to working with clay, said Paul Aho, Paducah School of Art interim director.
Participating artists include the following: Wayne Bates, Murray, KY; Bede Clarke, University Of Missouri, Columbia, MO; Sam Chung, Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ; A. Blair Clemo, Grand Valley State University, Allendale, MI; Harris Deller, Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, IL; Thomas Hoadley, Lenox, MA; Matt Long, University of Mississippi, University, MS; Craig Rhodes, Brookport, IL; Bonnie Seeman, University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL and Matt Wilt, Southern Illinois University, Edwardsville, IL.
The works on exhibit vary between the organic sculptural forms and decorative effects of Thomas Hoadley to the highly embellished wheel thrown vessels of Craig Rhodes. All of the artists combine art and science in giving voice to highly creative and superbly crafted work that makes them each unique and distinct, said Aho.
The Clemens Fine Arts Center Gallery hours are 9:00 a.m .- 2:00 p.m., Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays. Admission is free.
The Paducah School of Art offers an Associate of Fine Arts degree as well as studio art classes for students of all levels and disciplines. Classes are offered on both WKCTCs campus and at the Paducah School of Art located at 409 Broadway in downtown Paducah.
