New manikin enhances WKCTC Radiography Program. The West Kentucky Community and Technical College radiography program recently added a unique piece of equipment to the department. WKCTC radiography students now have access to a full-body x-ray positioning manikin in the classroom. The life size, human figure contains a fully flexible, articulating skeleton made of polyurethane.
This manikin is an excellent positioning tool for our students, said Patricia Buchanan, WKCTC radiography clinical coordinator. It has synthetic bones throughout and provides a more real life experience because its the closest thing to x-raying an actual patient.
WKCTC Radiography Program Coordinator David Heflin agreed. The use of simulators like the new manikin is essential to the radiography program because it truly enhances the student learning environment.
