Sonography Class of 2010 Students HonoredEleven students were recognized during an honors program for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Class of 2010 held at West Kentucky Community and Technical College December 6.
Students recognized at the December 6 event have completed the two-year program at WKCTC and are eligible to participate in the colleges Monday, May 9, 2011, graduation ceremony at the Luther Carson Four Rivers Center.
During the ceremony, Keesha Vaugh of Golconda, Illinois, received the diagnostic medical sonography programs Clinical Achievement Award. Jeanie Carlton and Sonya Henson took home the programs academic award.
Featured speaker Dr. Dan Hatfield reminded the students of the importance of their role in todays health care field. A diagnostic medical sonographer is a highly-skilled professional who uses specialized equipment to create images of structures inside the human body that are used by physicians to make a medical diagnosis.
A diagnostic radiologist for more than 30 years, Dr. Hatfield encouraged the students to continue their quest for knowledge.
The field that you have chosen is not just a way to earn a living. You have taken on the responsibility to diagnose and treat other individuals. You and your training are unique in the field of diagnostic imaging, Dr. Hatfield said. With your current training and your future quest for knowledge, Im fully confident that each and every one of you will be successful.
