Victoria Edwards Named Student of the MonthMcCracken County Victoria Edwards was selected Student Affairs Student of the Month for September at West Kentucky Community and Technical College.
I almost started crying! Ive never been selected for anything, said Edwards. This is such an honor and Im still in shock that I was chosen.
The Student of the Month program is designed to recognize the accomplishments of students on campus. Individuals selected must be currently enrolled at WKCTC and have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or higher and are nominated on the basis of exceptional performance, personal attributes, academic excellence, and active participation in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
Edwards, a freshman majoring in cosmetology, participates in various campus activities and volunteers in the community. She has participated in the colleges student forum, happening hour events, and the Welcome Back College Bash in August. Edwards is a member of the Ruff Club, which rescues pets and seek safe homes and shelters for them; and she works with her church youth group.
Holding a 4.0 grade point average, Edwards is described by her instructors as a person who sets high academic standards for herself and is a perfect student example for West Kentucky Community and Technical College. Her classmates said she is friendly, encouraging, helpful to others, and is an awesome role model.
I am very exciting to be attending WKCTC and I want to show that in my attitude everyday, Edwards said. I think that helps show my three girls that its never too late to reach for your goals in life.
Student of the Month winners receive $100, a certificate of excellence, recognition in the colleges newsletter, Facebook page, campus announcements, and Web site.
