WKCTC Scholarship Recipients Meet DonorsOver 120 West Kentucky Community and Technical College scholarship students and donors got the chance to meet at a reception in the colleges Anderson Technical Building Bistro on November 15.
WKCTC President Barbara Veazey expressed you sincere gratitude to the donors during the reception. When I think about this college and I think about our students, where would we be without our donors, she said. With 250 students receiving more than $400,000 in scholarships this year, that makes a real difference.
McCracken County resident Lilly Kaler is a nontraditional student who received the Bill and Meredith Schroeder Scholarship this year. She is getting closer to her educational goals thanks to their generosity. I just got accepted into the nursing program, and I couldnt have made it without this scholarship. Kaler said. I dont have to worry about the money. I only have to focus on what I have to do in school; I am so thankful.
Born in Turkey, Kaler found out that Bill Schroeder just returned for her native country for the third time, making her feel closer to him and the Schroeder family. We are connected on two levels, and its so wonderful to have someone so nice to hold your hand and raise you up.
Schroeder said its a pleasure to give to student scholarships every year. We have been very fortunate; we want to continue to support the college because unshared good fortune leaves life empty.
The WKCTC scholarship fund is supported through endowments, annual donors and funds raised though the colleges annual scholarship auction. Paducah Junior College, Inc., the foundation of WKCTC, offers more nearly 90 scholarships. The Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) offers additional scholarship opportunities to WKCTC students.
