The community-wide effort to encourage reading features Karen Thompson Walker's New York Times best selling novel, The Age of Miracles.  As a culmination to the One Book Read, Walker will visit the Clemens Center to discuss her book and greet community members in March 2018.

The Age of Miracles, was a finalist for the Barnes & Noble Discover Award, an Indies Choice Award, and a Goodreads Choice Award. Translated into 27 languages, the book was named one of the best books of the year by the Financial Times, Publishers Weekly, People, O., The Oprah Magazine, Kirkus, and Amazon. Recently optioned for television by AMC, The Age of Miracles has been selected as a community read by several cities and universities. Walker's TED talk about fear and the imagination has been viewed over a million times. To view her TED talk click here. She is a graduate of UCLA and Columbia, and she previously worked as a book editor at Simon & Schuster. In September 2017, Walker will join the creative writing faculty at the University of Oregon. She is at work on her second novel.
