Team LAUNCH Partnering

Benefits of Partnering with Team LAUNCH

Consider giving a young adult a work experience or an on the job training opportunity

Team LAUNCH meets with each participant to discuss goals, interests, and barriers in order to certify them into our program. They must provide extensive documentation to prove their barriers and availability for employment. We work on employability skills and prepare resumes, applications and/or cover letters with them, so they come to you prepared. Before any participant begins their work with you, he/she must pass a drug test. Each participant is vetted carefully before he/she is placed with you.

When you agree to employ one of our participants, you are given as much information as you need to make an informed decision. We will help the participants work to meet your qualifications, whether it’s to get a physical, earn a GED, or take a TABE test and obtain a certain reading or math level per your requirements. While the participant is your employee, WKWB will pay his/her wages at your position's starting wage as well as workman’s compensation. The goal is for them to become your permanent employee once the work experience ends; however, it is your choice.

Once the employee is placed with you, Team LAUNCH does not stop working with the participant. We continue to check in, answer questions, council based on your recommendations as well as meet with you to address any concerns you have. We want the participant to grow in your employ and become a great employer for you.

If you choose to hire the participant in a permanent position, Team LAUNCH continues to council with the employee for up to 12 months to help them get acclimated to the world of work.

You get the chance to work with the potential employee extensively before you hire him/her and we will support the process the whole way!

WKCTC Team LAUNCH helps young adults participate in short term training programs that enable them to earn national, industry recognized certification.

Just a few available certifications

Certification
Team Launch connects participants with area education partners to provide national, industry recognized short term certification training in one of the five high demand employment sectors identified by Kentucky (Business and IT, Construction, Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, and Transportation and Logistics).

Work Experience
Work experience helps participants learn what it is like to work in a field they have never worked in before. The West KY Workforce Board is the employer of record and pays the participant’s wages and workman’s compensation. The employer partners with Team LAUNCH to provide work experience for the participant and mentors the participant through their employment. Team LAUNCH will partner with the employer to address employability skills issues as they arise in the work experience. The employer can choose whether or not to hire the participant after the work experience is over.

On the Job Training
On the job training is for participants who have worked, but need to learn how to do a particular job. The Workforce Investment Board will reimburse 1/2 of the participant’s wages for hours worked (up to $5000). The employer may choose to hire the participant once the training is complete.

Team LAUNCH is a WIOA program which helps young adults, 18-24, who are out of school, figure out what they want to do. We can offer access to short term certification courses and/or work experience or on the job training.

The youth that Team LAUNCH helps have a barriers to employment. The barriers can be any or a combination of the following: transportation, lack of education, low income, are subject to the justice system, in or aged out of foster care, parenting, disabilities, etc. Team LAUNCH assists the youth to overcome or manage these barriers so they can become a great employee for you.
