Tammy Thompson:Welcome back to Campus Spotlight I'm your host Tammy Thompson. This is where we tell
you about all the events and activities happening on the campus of West Kentucky Community
and Technical College. This addition we're going to be talking about Super Sunday.
Many people think of the Super Bowl when they think of Super Sunday. Oh and congratulations
Coach Harbaugh on you win. But Super Sunday at West Kentucky is a whole new ballgame.
Here to tell us all about it is Jipaum Askew-Robinson.
Jipaum Askew-RobinsonHi, I'm Jipaum Askew-Robinson, the Director of Cultural Diversity out at West Kentucky
Community and Technical College. I'm here today to talk to you about Super Sunday.
Super Sunday is where all the KCTCS colleges across the state have partnered with
local African-American churches so that we can go out and reach the African-American
community. We'd like for people to know the degree programs that we offer that are
typically high-wage high demand degree programs. We have logistics, we will have someone
there from logistics. We will have someone there from the nursing, that's always a
popular one. We also will have some uh...lesser-known such as marine technology. We
also have a huge uh... initiative with the Paducah School of Art, so we will have
some representatives from Paducah School of Art. And a lot of people don't know that
we actually offer programs that can be obtained online. And if you don't want the
complete program online, you can always take certain courses online. There will be
those representatives there, and then of course, in order for you to even start classes,
you'll need admissions counselors, we have those there. And then of course money.
We'll have our financial aid advisors there. This year will be partnering with two
churches once again. We'll have the first one with Harrison Street Missionary Baptist
Church. That one will start at 9:30 in the morning and then church services immediately
following. But then we'll also have auh..college fair with Ninth Street Church of
Christ and that one will follow immediately after the 11 a.m. service, so it will
start probably about one o'clock. We want everyone to know that we'll have refreshments
and door prizes at both locations, so we hope to see you there. It's for everyone.
If you have any questions, you can contact me at 534-3420.
Tammy Thompson: Thank you Jipaum. We hope to see all of you at Super Sunday Don't forget you can see
Campus Spotlight in four ways. The College's Facebook page, YouTube page and website.
