Applying for Aid

The FAFSA is required to receive any type of financial aid at West Kentucky Community and Technical College. While it is not mandatory for all students, completing it is strongly encouraged. Students are automatically considered for all forms of federal financial assistance by simply completing the following steps:

  • Create an FSA ID
  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online
  • Make sure you have completed your federal tax forms (tax information will be needed if required to file)
  • Add School Code 001979 to your FAFSA
  • Wait 7-10 days for us to receive your FAFSA and determine if more information is needed

     Summer 2018
Year-Round Pell is an award opportunity made available to help students who have been enrolled full-time for the Fall and Spring semesters to receive financial aid for the Summer term. This can help students complete their academic program faster and with less need to take out student loans throughout the school year.

NOTE: this ONLY applies to Pell Grants
A Pell-eligible student must be enrolled half-time (6 credit hours). The student can only be enrolled in courses needed for their program and also must meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
The award amount a student is eligible to receive is based upon the expected family contribution (EFC) which is determined when you complete a FAFSA. The award amount is also based on the cost of attendance, enrollment status, and whether the student attended for a full academic year or less.

Summer Loans

Student must be enrolled at least half-time (6 credit hours) and meeting SAP standards to receive a student loan. You will also need to complete the Master Promissory Note (MPN) and Entrance Counseling on studentloans.gov if this is your first time borrowing.

NOTE: Loan awards cannot exceed a student's annual aggregate limits or cost of attendance

Please complete the loan form and bring it in to the Financial Aid office or fax to (270) 534-6299.
