The Medical Laboratory Technician program at West Kentucky Community and Technical
College has received a $4,000 grant from the American Society of Clinical Pathologists
to purchase new laboratory microscopes.
Hillary Bell, program coordinator for the MLT program, secured the grant to support the purchase of industry-standard microscopes that will enhance student training and strengthen the program’s alignment with current healthcare practices.
“These new microscopes will significantly improve the hands-on experience for our students, ensuring they are better prepared for careers in the medical laboratory field,” Bell said.
In addition to enhancing instruction, the new equipment will be featured during program tours and recruitment events. College officials said the investment will support enrollment growth and long-term program sustainability.
The grant reflects the college’s continued commitment to high-quality, workforce-focused education and its mission to improve healthcare outcomes in the region.
