Scholarship Reception Connects Donors and Students at WKCTC

Published on Sep 17, 2025

Just over 100 scholarship recipients and donors came together for an evening of connection, gratitude and celebration during West Kentucky Community and Technical College’s annual Scholarship Reception, held Sept. 16 at the Clemens Fine Arts Center.

The event brought together just over 100 scholarship recipients and donors for an evening of networking, refreshments and celebration. Held in the college’s Student Center, the reception gave students and donors a chance to connect and recognize the role of scholarships in student achievement and regional talent development.

“This is where the magic happens. When you have donors that are excited about meeting students and you have students that are excited about meeting donors,” said Andy Wilson, Vice President of Institutional Advancement. “When those conversations happen it’s indescribable on the life-long learning that happens here at WKCTC.”

Sponsored by the Paducah Junior College Foundation, the event included a brief program with remarks from donors and students. Speakers highlighted the direct impact of scholarship support on education, career readiness and regional growth.

“It’s so important for us to have good employees, and what ends up happening is WKCTC trains them at the highest level,” said Mike Muscarella, scholarship donor and local health care executive. “We have high-performing employees working in our hospital because of this school.”
Amber Fralix, a WKCTC student and scholarship recipient, also expressed her appreciation during the event.

“The first thing I would say is thank you,” Fralix said. “Thank you for giving and reaching into your heart and finding that kindness to support another student on their journey and their academic success, so that’s what I have to say. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.”

Commemorative gifts were given to the students and donors in attendance, marking the second year of the event.
