Board of Directors and PJC Board of Trustees Meeting

I. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order at 12:30 p.m. by Chair Jones beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance.  Those present were Heather Coltharp, Dr. Belinda Dalton-Russell, Deborah Edmonds, Summer Holland, Jason Jones, Larry Kelley, Dr. Shirley Menendez, and Emily Strasser.  PJC Board of Trustees members attending were Guthrie Allen, Ann Denton, Jeff Hines, Lorraine Schramke, Mike Sims, Ken Wheeler, and Dr. William Wheeler.  Others who attended were:  Paul Aho, Dr. Renea Akin, Janett Blythe, Mellisa Duncan, Lee Emmons, Jennifer Frazier, Susan Graves, Becky Haus, Dr. David Heflin, Brian Heller, Dr. Karen Hlinka, Darla Howerton, Shay Nolan, Dr. Anton Reece, Ruby Rodgers, Tammy Thompson and Barbara Maxey, recorder.  

II. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES

Mr. Kelley moved and Mrs. Edmonds seconded to approve the October 3, 2017 minutes.  Motion passed.

II. PRESIDENT’S REPORT

Dr. Reece introduced Shay Nolan, the new Vice President of Operations.

B.A. Hamilton Dedication

Dr. Reece announced the Dedication of the B. A. Hamilton Collision Repair Technology classroom and shop will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, November 16.  All board members are encouraged to stay after this meeting to attend.

SACSCOC

Dr. Reece congratulated the faculty and staff of WKCTC on a very successfully accreditation visit by SACSCOC.  He specifically thanked Dr. Renea Akin for her tireless attention to detail that resulted in this success.  Dr. Akin described this process as two-year progression and thanked John Williams and Deborah Edmonds for their participation at the site visit.

Enrollment

Dr. Akin stated the official snapshot for enrollment numbers was November 1.  The enrollment for WKCTC is down from fall 2016 by approximately 50 students.  The recruiters are actively working on enrollment for spring 2018.  

Graduation

Dr. Reece announced fall graduation will be held on December 11 at 7 p.m. at the Carson Center.  He stressed how important it is for the students for board members to support and attend graduation. Tammy Thompson, Graduation Chair, stated the nursing pinning will be a part of the actual graduation ceremony for the first time.  The keynote speaker will be Allen North, Assistant Vice President, Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis.

VI. ADJOURNMENT TO PJC BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING

Summer Holland made a motion to adjourn to the PJC Board of Trustees meeting.  Deborah Edmonds seconded the motion.  The motion was approved.
