Dental Assisting Selective Admission Process

Each applicant must submit the following credentials by April 1 in order to be considered by the committee for fall semester admission of the same year. Admission is based upon a point system that is designed to objectively evaluate applicants. Applicants with the highest total points will be admitted to the program.

Submit verification of attendance at a Pre-Admission Conference. The pre-admission conferences are scheduled each month from September to March (December excluded) at 3:30pm CST in the WKCTC Anderson Technical Building Room 238:

Verification of attendance at a pre-admission conference must be on file. Pre-admission conferences are offered the 3rd Wednesday of each month from September to March (excluding December). If you are unable to attend a pre-admission conference, you may contact the program coordinator to schedule a conference.

Admission to the program is accomplished through a selective admissions points process. The Admissions Committee determines academic eligibility and ranks the applicants based on the criteria.

*For BIO 137 and BIO 139 path, points will only be awarded if both classes are complete prior to application deadline.

1 Point will be awarded to applicants who are residents of KY or WKCTC's service area.

 

  • Pre-requisite courses (with a grade of C or better): BIO 135 Basic Anatomy and Physiology with Lab (recommended) OR BIO 137 Anatomy and Physiology I AND BIO 139 Anatomy and Physiology II
  • Proof of digital literacy as defined by the following link: https://westkentucky.kctcs.edu/education-training/digital-literacy/
  • General Education Requirement: One course from Written/Oral Communications/Humanities, or Heritage
  • You must attend a pre-admission conference.

Only final course grades in classes completed by the April 1 deadline will be used in calculating selective admission points. It is possible to be accepted to the program without completion of the pre-requisite courses listed above; however, admittance to first-semester dental courses would be contingent on completion of pre-requisite requirements prior to the first day of dental assisting courses.
