Radiography Program Mission, Goals, and Student Learning Outcomes
Mission
West Kentucky Community and Technical College Radiography Program’s mission is to prepare students for a career as diagnostic radiographers through an educational program that is committed to continuous improvement and fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensuring that graduates are equipped to meet the needs of a diverse patient population with justice, ethical integrity, and compassion.
VISION
The West Kentucky Community and Technical College Radiography Program will meet the region's need for diagnostic radiographers, improving community health care access and quality, by empowering individuals through innovative and equitable learning experiences that continuously evolve with advances in health care practice and technology.
Goals and Learning Outcomes
Goal 1: Students will demonstrate clinical competence.
Student Learning Outcomes:
1.1 – Students will demonstrate competence in positioning skills.
1.2 – Students will select appropriate technical factors.
Goal 2: Students will demonstrate communication skills.
Student Learning Outcomes:
2.1 – Students will demonstrate written communication skills.
2.2 – Students will demonstrate oral communication skills.
Goal 3: Students will demonstrate critical thinking skills.
Student Learning Outcomes:
3.1 – Students will adapt standard procedures for non-routine patients.
3.2 – Students will critique images to determine diagnostic quality.
Program Effectiveness Outcomes:
- Students will complete the program in 24 months.
- Graduates will express satisfaction with their education
- Graduates will pass the ARRT certification exam on first attempt.
- Graduates will be gainfully employed within 12 months post-graduation.
- Employers will express satisfaction with program graduates as entry-level radiographers.
