Board of Directors and PJC Foundation Board of Trustees Meeting

I. CALL TO ORDER

The meeting was called to order by Chair Murphy, beginning with the Pledge of Allegiance, followed by introductions of joint board members.  Those present were Gorman Bradley, Krystian Clayton, Heather Coltharp, Summer Holland, Kenneth Hurt, Barry McDonald, Vice-Chair; Erika Mehta, Chuck Murphy, Chair; and Jay Simmons. PJC Foundation Board of Trustees members attending were Chris Black, Chair; Mayor George Bray, Judge Craig Clymer, Ann Denton, Lee Emmons, Executive Director; Anne Gwinn, Sid Hancock, Lorraine Schramke, Secretary; Teresa Spann, Vice-Chair; Dr. William Wheeler, Ken Wheeler, John Williams, and Susan Ybarzabal, Treasurer.

Others in attendance: Dr. Renea Akin, Janett Blythe, Octavia Lawrence, Uppinder Mehan, Shay Nolan, Kevin O’Neill, Emily Peck, Dr. Anton Reece, Kate Senn, President’s Cabinet; Melissa Allcock, Todd Birdsong, Karen Brown, Mellisa Duncan, Kyle Fisher, Roberta Jackson, staff.

II. APPROVAL OF MINUTES

Mr. Gorman Bradley moved, and Mr. Jay Simmons seconded the motion to approve the October 20, 2021 minutes.  Motion passed.

III. CHAIR'S REMARKS

Chair Murphy asked the new board members to proceed to the front for the oath of office ceremony.  Judge Craig Clymer administered the oath of office to Mr. Gorman Bradley, Ms. Krystian Clayton, Mr. Kenneth Hurt, Ms. Erika Mehta, and Mr. Jay Simmons.

Upon completion of the ceremony, Chair Murphy congratulated the new board members and thanked all of the Board for their service.  He also announced that Secretary Chris Roty has been named the Chief Operating Officer at Baptist Health Lexington and would be resigning from the Board.

Chair Murphy also thanked the Cabinet, faculty, staff, and students for persevering during these unprecedented times and congratulated the students graduating in December. 

IV. PRESIDENT'S REMARKS

Dr. Reece recognized former Board members Ms. Deborah Edmonds (ten years) and Mr. Larry Kelley (twelve years) for their service.  A plaque commemorating our appreciation will be mailed to them.

Dr. Reece announced the annual holiday luncheon is on December 8, 2021, in the Haws Gymnasium, with more information to come.

V. ADJOURNMENT

Motion was made by Mr. Barry McDonald and seconded by Mr. Gorman Bradley to adjourn the WKCTC Board meeting. Chair Murphy turned the meeting over to PJC Chair, Chris Black, who conducted the PJC Board of Trustees meeting.
