October is Sustainability Month!

We have one tip for each day in October to help you be sustainable!

  1. Buy in Bulk to reduce packaging waste
  2. Shop at thrift stores
  3. Plant trees around your home
  4. Don’t use plastic straws
  5. Take the stairs, not the elevator
  6. Avoid one plane trip per year
  7. Compost food waste
  8. Bike or walk when possible
  9. Turn lights off when leaving a room
  10. Ditch plastic bottles
  11. Unplug chargers
  12. Carpool with friends
  13. Use cloth bags at the store
  14. Donate your old clothes
  15. Take shorter showers
  16. Always eat your leftovers
  17. Switch to LED light bulbs
  18. Hang clothes out to dry
  19. Eat less meat
  20. Buy locally grown food and products
  21. Recycle cell phones.
  22. Repair instead of replace. Reupholster furniture. Resole your shoes.
  23. Purchase non-toxic cleaning products.
  24. Inflate tires properly.
  25. Copy on both sides of the paper
  26. Turn down your water heater temperature.
  27. Use a toaster oven and use 50% less energy than conventional oven
  28. Change your furnace filters
  29. Use a draft snake, drafts can waste 5% to 30% of your energy use.
  30. Run ceiling fans in reverse – can cut your heating costs as much as 10%.
  31. Avoid speeding - every 5 mph you drive over 50 mph is like paying an additional $0.24 per gallon for gas.
