Student Quick Reference

*Students must enroll in classes 24 hours prior to activating their KCTCS Account.*

  1. Go to westkentucky.kctcs.edu, click Current Students and click on User Account Center.
  2. Select Setup User Profile to create your user account or Reset Password if you have forgotten your password.
  3. If you are resetting your password, you will need to enter your KCTCS username or email address.
    1. Please note that if you are unable to access the methods for verification displayed on the screen you will need to have your information updated by contact (855) 469-5282 or stopping by the Admissions and Information Services area in the lobby of Anderson Technical Building.
  4. If you are setting up your student account provide your birth month, birth day and KCTCS ID number.
    1. You will be provided your KCTCS username and allowed to set your own password.
    2. Click the button that says create/update my user profile.
  1. Provide a copy of your valid driver’s license to Admissions and Information Services in the lobby of Anderson Technical Building.
  1. Log into Student Self-Service with a KCTCS username and password.
  2. Click on the Profile tile and select the item you would like to update in the navigation on the left hand side.
  3. To update the information, click the out of date information and a pop up will appear prompting you to enter the new information.
  4. Don’t forget to click save when finished!
  1. Log into Student Self-Service with a KCTCS username and password.
  2. Click the Academic Records tile.
  3. On the left hand side select which type of request you would like to submit (major or home college).
  4. Use the magnifying glass to search for your choices.
  5. Once complete, click submit!

*Note: Submit one (either a major change or a home college change) at a time, please allow 3-5 business days for processing.  If you are updating your home college your major will update as well, you may only switch once per semester via your student self-service.  

  1. Log into student self-service with a KCTCS username and password.
  2. Click the Student Center tile.
  3. Scroll down to Personal information and click the consent to release link.
  4. Enter the information of the party you would like to designate access to your information and click save.  

*Note, this form does not allow someone to make requests on your behalf, but allows us to provide information to them.  

  1. Go to: westkentucky.kctcs.edu/admission/records and click Transcript Requests & Transferring Credits.
  2. Fill out the form, provide payment information, and electronically sign with a mouse on the consent page.
  1. Log into Student Self-Service with a KCTCS username and password.
  2. Click on the student center tile.
  3. Scroll to the Academics Section.
  4. Use the drop down box to select Transcript: View My Unofficial.
  5. Report Type: Student Self Service View.
  6. Print your transcript at no cost.

*Please allow 3 weeks after classes begin for enrollment information to be reported/processed before requesting verification*

  1. Log into Student Self-Service with a KCTCS username and password.
  2. Click on the student center tile.
  3. In the bottom right corner click Order Transcript/Verify Enrollment.
  4. Select West Kentucky from the drop down menu and click the link for step 2.
  5. Click Request Transcript or Enrollment Verification.
  6. Select an option & Print your enrollment certificate.

**Lenders are automatically notified of your enrollment status four times per semester.**

  1. Speak with your Financial Aid Counselor to ensure financial aid will not require repayment.
  2. Log into Student Self-Service with a KCTCS username and password.
  3. Click on the academic records tile.
  4. On the left side click Withdraw/Drop Request

AA/AS: Complete the Graduation Application on our website under Admissions and then Records Office.

AAS/Diplomas/Certificates: Complete the Paper Graduation Application (available online), obtain instructor signature and curriculum.  

  1. Go to fafsa.ed.gov
  2. If you are new to FAFSA choose Start A New FAFSA and if you are a returning user choose Login.
  3. Enter your FSA ID username and password.  If you do not have one, you will need to create one to confirm your identity and electronically sign.
  4. Make sure to put our school code: 001979
  1. Log into Student Self-Service with a KCTCS username and password.
  2. Click on the financial aid tile and click on Bookstore Release on the left side to complete the form. 
  1. Login to your KCTCS email account via mypath.kctcs.edu.
  2. Locate and select your initials or picture in the top right corner.
  3. Select my account
  4. Under install status click Manage Installs.
  5. Click install desktop applications link.  
  1. Log into Student Self-Service with a KCTCS username and password.
  2. Click on the student center tile.
  3. On the far right side of the page you will find your program advisor’s name.  You can click on details to see contact information.
  • Sessn: College session in which the course is offered.  The start and end dates of a course determines the session number.  Refund policies are based on the session in which a course is offered.
  • Class#: Number assigned to this class section.
  • Course: Department and course number.
  • Section: Section number.  Section numbers on all WKCTC classes start with B5 or B6.  A “Z” in the section number indicates the course is offered online, an “L” in the section number indicates a laboratory class which may or may not have credit assigned.
  • Course Title: Title of the course.  Many titles are abbreviated for printing purposes.
  • Location: Campus location where the course is offered.
  • Dates: Start and end dates of the class.
  • Credits: Credit hours for the course.  Courses having a lab associated with them may be for credit or not for credit.  Credit hours are used to determine your grade point average (GPA).
  • Meets: Days a class meets.
  • Begins & Ends: Start and end times of the class.
  • Bldg: Building in which the class is offered.  All WKCTC classes will have a B5 or B6 listed prior to the building abbreviation.  WWW indicates the class is online.
  • Room: Classroom number.
  • Instructor: Class instructor name.
