Students currently enrolled in WKCTC classes in Paducah, students enrolled in institutions
who belong to Federation of Kentucky Academic Libraries (FoKAL), PJC Board Members,
WKCTC Board of Directors, WKCTC employees, and retired faculty and staff will be issued
a free library card and have full circulation privileges upon showing proof or identification.
Community patrons who present proof that they live or work in McCracken County, or
they are Work and Learn (WAL), Ready to Work (RTW), or Adult Education (Adult Ed)
students may also obtain a free library card.
A library card (for students, a campus identification card) is necessary to check out materials.
To Receive a Library Card
Be sure to get your ID card (students, faculty, and staff) made at the business office at Anderson Technical Building. Your ID card functions as your library card.
If you have not had time to get your ID card made yet, present a picture identification at the Circulation Desk. You can use this card until you get your ID made.
Other patrons as listed above may present a photo ID to obtain a library card.
Use of a Library Card
Only the library card holder may use their card to borrow materials. They are responsible for all materials checked out on their card.
Student Loan Periods
Limit of 10 ITEMS
- Books (unless Reference or Special Collections) - loan for 21 days with renewal period of 2 weeks (2 maximum renewals)
- Reserves - Loan periods vary
- Audiobooks on CD - 21 days
- DVDs - 5 days (unless AV Media collection)
A hold may be placed at WKCTC if the KCTCS Library Catalog "status" indicates a date due. Make a printout of the screen and take it to the Circulation Desk and present along with your library card. A notice will be sent when the materials are available. If not picked up within seven days, the hold will be canceled.
Items may be renewed by any of the following methods:
- In person: Bring your library card.
- By phone: Call 270-534-3197. Have your student ID or library card number ready.
- Online: Submit a request via your account in the KCTCS Library Catalog.
Items on hold for another patron cannot be renewed. If a patron has overdue fines/fees, items cannot be renewed until payment is received.
Notices are sent as a courtesy to patrons. Two notices, the first of which is a reminder, are sent for overdue library materials. When the second notice is generated (not when it is received), an approximate cost of the material ($15.00 minimum), a processing fee, and a $5.00 overdue fee (per overdue item) are charged. At this time, the patron is considered delinquent. Library circulation privileges are suspended for patrons having overdue materials with unpaid fines and fees until obligations are met. Students may not register for classes and transcripts will not be sent until the library is assured that all obligations have been met satisfactorily.
When overdue materials are returned, a $5.00 per item overdue fee will be charged. Failure to receive a notice does not relieve a patron of the responsibility for unreturned library materials. It is the student's responsibility to keep their address updated in the KCTCS Student Self-Service which is available online through their PeopleSoft account.
