Our accreditation to award associate degrees comes from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and it’s an important part of who we are as a college.

West Kentucky Community and Technical College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate degrees. West Kentucky Community and Technical College also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Automotive Technology: The program is accredited by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

Collision Repair Technology: The program is accredited by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE).

Diesel Technology: This program is accredited by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE)

Dental Assisting: The program in dental assisting is accredited by the Commission on Dental Accreditation [and has been granted the accreditation status of "approval without reporting requirements]". The Commission is a specialized accrediting body recognized by the United States Department of Education. Diagnostic Medical Sonography: The general and vascular concentrations of the West Kentucky Community and Technical College's Diagnostic Medical Sonography program are accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP, 9355 - 113th St. N, #7709, Seminole, FL  33775, 727-210-2350), through the Joint Review Committee on Education in Diagnostic Medical Sonography (JRCDMS).

Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education: The program is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Medical Laboratory Technician: The program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS), 5600 N River Road, Suite 720, Rosemont, IL 60018-5119, Phone: 773-724-8880, Fax 773-714-8886.

Surgical Technology: The program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) and the Accreditation Review Council on Education in Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (ARC/STSA).

State Approved Academic Programs

Cosmetology: The program is approved through the Kentucky Board of Hairdressers & Cosmetologists.

Medicaid Nurse Aide: Kentucky Medicaid Nurse Aide is approved and monitored by The Cabinet for Health and Family Services, Department for Medicaid Services.

Consult with your state’s licensing/certification board to determine if your chosen path of study will meet their requirements. 

Many programs may lead to licensure or certification that can be desirable for employment. Only those programs WKCTC offers that are required by the state for employment are listed here.

All programs listed above meet state authorization for Kentucky residents. Please check the Licensure Status for all other states to ensure you are making appropriate decisions for enrollment in these programs.
