Merit Scholarships

Merit scholarships are available to current WKCTC students and incoming high school seniors.

High School Seniors

  • Note: Merit Scholarships are eligible for renewal for a second continuous year of study.  Students must complete a minimum of 24 graded college hours by the completion of the spring semester and must maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or greater.
  • They are a full-time student (12 – 15 hours).
  • They meet additional GPA / ACT/SAT, class rank or National Merit requirements listed below.
  • An official seventh-semester transcript and ACT/SAT composite score has been submitted by your high school counselor.  Schools using block schedules should provide a transcript as of December 31.
  • A complete scholarship application is submitted.
  • Current high school seniors (including Community Scholarship Program seniors) are eligible for merit scholarships at WKCTC if:

 

  • KCTCS Commonwealth Scholarship

(Full Tuition & Mandatory Fee)Available to a valedictorian of any public Kentucky high school (as of the seventh semester / December 31 for schools using block schedules).

  • National Merit Scholarship Stipend ($2,000)

Available to all National Merit Finalists and Semi-Finalists. This scholarship is in addition to other awards received. 

  • Presidential Scholarship (100% Tuition & Mandatory Fee)

Available to all applicants who meet the GPA / ACT/SAT as noted. 

  • Trustee Scholarship ($4,000)

Available to all applicants who meet the GPA / ACT/SAT as noted. 

  • James Grisham Memorial Scholarship ($3,000)

Available to all applicants who meet the GPA / ACT/SAT as noted. 

  • Academic Excellence Scholarship ($2,000)

Available to all applicants who meet the GPA / ACT/SAT as noted. 

  •  Beiderwell I Scholarship ($1,000)

Available to all applicants who meet the GPA / ACT/SAT as noted. 

 19/20 HS Merit

WKCTC Currently Enrolled Students

Available to students who have a 3.75 GPA and 12 hours and above  WKCTC college credit.

  •  Beiderwell II Scholarship ($1,000)

Available to all applicants who meet the GPA / hours as noted. 

Please note:

  • Scholarships pay only for WKCTC classes. Classes originating from other colleges within KCTCS are not funded.
  • And non-dollar amount scholarship (percent scholarship) is calculated based upon the current in-state tuition rate. These scholarship amounts include the in-state tuition and mandatory fee. Other college and/or class fees are not included.
